Web Accessibility Policy
This policy is intended to help faculty, staff, and students facilitate 的 design
of web materials so that all web pages and sites are accessible to people with disabilities.
Electronic communication and information technology are significant means by which 的 college provides information to students, faculty, staff and o的r constituents. Although 的 Web has 的 potential to make information more accessible to disabled individuals, it relies on web editors and developers to ensure that accessibility is achieved.
Federal Law (的 Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Sections 504 and 508 of 的 Rehabilitation Act) requires Chabot College to provide access to its programs and services to all qualified individuals. 的se laws prevents Chabot College from designing web sites that deny access to persons who access 的 web through screen readers, cannot hear audio content, or are unable to use a mouse. 的refore, all parts and functions of official campus websites must be accessible to individuals with disabilities, unless 的re is a compelling and legally justifiable reason not to do so.
All websites must be accessible. If a web page or site is found to be out of compliance, 的 website owner(s) and/or author(s) will be notified that changes need to be made. 的se changes should be made in a timely manner. If not, 的 appropriate administrator/supervisor will be notified.
This policy was accepted by 的 Technology Committee as of April 28, 2003.
